SS-31, also known as elamipretide and MTP-131, is a synthetic tetrapeptide from the Szeto–Schiller family of aromatic-cationic peptides. Its sequence, D-Arg-Dmt-Lys-Phe-NH2, alternates basic and aromatic residues. It includes 2′,6′-dimethyltyrosine (Dmt), a non-proteinogenic amino acid, and a C-terminal amide, and carries a net charge of 3+ at neutral pH. Supplied as a lyophilised powder in a sealed glass vial. For laboratory research use only. Not for human or veterinary use.
